[November 04, 2016]    Nov 3 (The Sports Xchange) - The Philadelphia Eagles announced Thursday that they have released wide receiver/kick returner Josh Huff, who was arrested on firearm and marijuana charges earlier in the week.

Philadelphia executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman told reporters that the decision to release Huff came after discussions with coach Doug Pederson, owner Jeffery Lurie and team president Don Smolenski.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy returned to practice as he attempts to work his way back from a hamstring injury.

While pleased with seeing McCoy back on the practice field, coach Rex Ryan remained cautiously optimistic for the 28-year-old's availability for Monday's game against the Seattle Seahawks (4-2-1).

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman took aim at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the NFL's declining television ratings, saying the league isn't fun because the NFL is not allowing players to display their personalities.

Entering Week 9, Monday Night Football ratings are down 20 percent from last season, according to Nielsen data. The Sunday Night Football package is down 18.5 percent and Thursday games are down 21.8 percent.

"Because the league isn't fun anymore," Sherman told reporters. "Every other league, you see the players have a good time. It's a game. This isn't politics. This isn't justice. This is entertainment. And they're no longer allowing the players to entertain. "They're no longer allowing the players to show any kind of personality, any kind of uniqueness, any individuality. Because they want to control the product. They want to control the messaging, etc., etc."
