LINCOLN
- The Lincoln Heritage Museum on the campus of Lincoln College is
hosting its third lecture in the lecture series, Learn from Lincoln,
Live like Lincoln: The Nation’s Choice Lecture Series. On Monday,
November 7 at 6:30 p.m. Ron Keller will present “1861: Lincoln’s
Defining Year as President.”

Keller’s lecture, “1861: Lincoln’s Defining Year as President,”
encompasses President Lincoln’s first year in office as president.
No other incoming president has faced a comparable challenge to the
strength of the country.
Highlights from the lecture include party structures, tensions
between Republicans and Democrats, and Lincoln’s “team of rivals.”
The lecture will give attendees a better understanding of the
highest office in the country in 1861.
The Learn from Lincoln, Live like Lincoln Lecture series provides a
unique examination of what we can learn from the life and legacy of
Abraham Lincoln today.
The Lincoln Lecture series is free and open to the public Attendees
should enter the Lincoln Center through the Lincoln Heritage
Museum’s entrance and volunteers will direct the public to the
lecture room.

Keller is associate professor of history and political science at Lincoln
College, and managing director of the Abraham Lincoln Center for Character
Development and past director of the Lincoln Heritage Museum. Keller co-authored
several books including “Abraham Lincoln in Logan County,” and “A Respect For
the Office: Letters From the Presidents”. Keller is presently writing “Abraham
Lincoln as State Legislator”, due out in late 2017. Keller’s specialty is in
American political history, and has presented on the subject of Abraham Lincoln
statewide and nationally.
