[November 09, 2016]  Nov 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted on Tuesday what many were thinking in regard to the team's quarterback situation.

"The key thing I want to emphasize is we probably are never going to have this totally sorted out," Jones said during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan radio program. "We're going to play it by ear, play it as it comes. We can do that."

Veteran quarterback Tony Romo has been a limited participant in practice over the last two weeks as he recovers from a back injury sustained in the preseason.

Rookie Dak Prescott has led Dallas to a 7-1 record.

Jones said he expects Romo to challenge for the starting job, but the owner stopped short of saying that the veteran is still the team's No. 1 quarterback.

The San Francisco 49ers placed defensive lineman Arik Armstead on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury, the team announced.

Armstead, who played in eight games for the 49ers this season and was a starter at defensive tackle in the past four games, left Sunday's game after five plays when he aggravated a left shoulder injury that has bothered him since training camp.

He has recorded 2.5 sacks this season, which is tied for the team lead.

The 49ers also claimed defensive tackle Chris Jones off waivers from the Miami Dolphins, promoted Chris Harper to the active roster and released fellow wide receiver Keshawn Martin.

The Detroit Lions activated wide receiver Corey Fuller from the physically unable to perform list.

Tight end Khari Lee was waived to create the roster spot for Fuller, who has been sidelined since breaking his foot in organized team activities.

The Washington Redskins signed free-agent defensive tackle Jordan Hill, the team announced.

Hill played in 10 games for the Seattle Seahawks last season, including one start, but he was cut by the Seahawks in September.

The Redskins also placed tight end Niles Paul on the injured reserve list and signed defensive back Lee Hightower to the practice squad.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not rule out center Maurkice Pouncey for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys despite the three-time Pro Bowl selection undergoing surgery on his dislocated thumb.

"He's going to have the ability to snap," Tomlin said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "We'll give him a couple days to let it calm down from the procedure." (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
