[November 16, 2016]  MOUNT PULASKI - Carl Kopatz, 95, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Mount Pulaski

Obituary

Carl Kopatz, 95, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Carl was born on November 5, 1921 in Springfield, the son of John and Anna (Remack) Kopatz. Carl married Bernice Hamilton in 1949. She preceded him in death in 1963. He later married Betty Aderman on June 18, 1966 in Springfield. She survives in Mount Pulaski.

Carl is also survived by his son, Rev. Dr. Perry Kopatz of Glendale, AZ; his brother, Arthur Kopatz of Torrance, CA; his grandchildren, Christine Kopatz of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jeremy (Krystal) Kopatz of San Tan Valley, AZ; his great-grandchildren, Peyton Rose Kopatz and Ryden Quinn Kopatz.

Carl proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service; and retired from the State of Illinois Retirement System. Carl was member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

Services for Carl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 with one hour visitation prior to services (10:00-11:00 a.m.) at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorial donations may be made in Carl’s name to Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski.
