LCHS Speech Team performs well at Charleston meet

[November 22, 2016]  LINCOLN - The Lincoln Community High School speech team has been busy already this November, participating in tournaments at both Normal West and Charleston.

Junior Ethan Keller won the junior varsity dramatic interpretation event at Charleston Saturday in the 8-team tournament.

Varsity finishers include senior Reagen Tibbs, 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking; Keller and junior Zak Luken, 4th in Dramatic Duet Acting; Luken, 5th in Radio Speaking; and senior Claire Conrady and junior Justin Woods, 3rd in Humorous Duet Acting.



Junior varsity finalists were: sophomore Aleaya Turley, 3rd in Dramatic Interpretation; junior Emma Cooper, 5th in Dramatic Interpretation; freshman Josie Schumann, 6th in Humorous Interpretation; junior Gabbie Cox, 4th in Oratorical Declamation, sophomore Samantha Lewis, 5th in Oratorical Declamation; sophomore Laura Centers, 4th in Original Comedy and 5th in Radio Speaking; sophomore Jack Graue, 5th in Poetry Reading; freshman Krystina Slack, 6th in Poetry Reading; and junior Shannon Rahn, 2nd in Prose Reading.

"These kids did an amazing job, many of them in their first high school tournament," said head coach Julie Tanner. Tanner is in her first year as head coach and has 21 members of the team. She is assisted by Tom McLaughlin and Jennifer Keith.

The team travels to Bloomington Dec. 3 for their next tournament.
