[October 04, 2016]   LINCOLN - Logan County Arts and the Lincoln Art Institute will present the artistic works of people enrolled in art classes at Memorial Behavioral Health-Lincoln Center for Developmental Rehabilitation.

An opening reception will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Lincoln Art Institute, 112 S. McLean St., Lincoln. The exhibit, “Breaking the Walls One Ability at a Time,” runs through Nov. 1.

Up to 60 artists will display their work. Types of artwork will include papier-mache, collages, acrylic paintings, watercolors, chalk drawings, stencil designs, block printing, pencil/charcoal drawings and self-portraits.

“These artists are excited to break into their community through their art, conquering misconceptions regarding individuals with developmental disabilities,” said Deb Hilgendorf, director of facility-based services at Memorial Behavioral Health-Lincoln Center for Developmental Rehabilitation. “We invite the community to support their effort to master their talents while overcoming barriers. You support will be instrumental in these artists being active in the community.”
