[October 07, 2016]  LINCOLN - As another year of Lincoln Youth Football comes to a close Co-commissioner Wesley Fuchs called the players together in the middle of practice Tuesday night to talk briefly with them:

Coach Fuchs shouts,
“Are you all having fun?”

Players respond,
“Yeah!”

“Are you learning something?”
Yeah!”

“Are you coming back next year?”
“Yeah!”

“Are you bringing a friend?”
“Yeah!”

“That’s the goal!”

Fuchs then asked the kids to help him thank the many volunteers who made this year a success! Many adults gave up countless hours to coach, run concessions, help with equipment, and pitch in when/where needed.

There were four ladies nominated for Volunteer of the Year: Corinne White, Traci Maaks, Rhonda Helton and Angie Hurt.

Volunteer of the Year award went to Corinne White. Coach Fuchs told the players, “Corinne is the reason you got your uniforms so quickly, she got the information to the printers. She also made databases of the teams.” The players showed their appreciation with a big round of applause.

Coach of the Year was then recognized. The nominees were: Jean Ferguson, Jeff Robinson, and Bill Gandolfi.

Coach of the Year for 2016 is Jeff Robinson. Coach Fuchs shared, “Jeff doesn’t even have children or grandchildren out here on the fields. He just wants to help. He believes in the football program and wants each of you to have a great experience.”

The Super Bowl of the Youth Football League takes place this Saturday. The teams, of all ages, are eager to bring home first place ribbons. With that in mind, the kids took their respective places on the field to finish practice.
