[October 11, 2016]  MOUNT PULASKI - Billy Joe Shanle, 80, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2016 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday October 9, 2016 at The Family Life Center in Mount Pulaski

Service: 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the First Christian Church Sanctuary in Mount Pulaski

Obituary

Billy Joe Shanle, 80, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2016 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Bill was born on April 1, 1936 in Lincoln, the son of Robert E. and Alma V. (Erlenbush) Shanle. He married Nancy Poffenbarger on June 20, 1959 in Mount Pulaski. She survives in Mount Pulaski.

Bill is also survived by his children, Jodi Shanle of Mattoon, and Gail (Rosemary) Shanle of Sherman; his brothers, Robert Shanle of Lincoln, and Larry Shanle of Mexico, MO; his sisters, Wanda (Doug) Peterson of Stromsburg, NE, Kay (Richard) Snyder of Lincoln, Connie (Jeff) Laatsch of Mount Pulaski, and his grandchildren, Kyle (Whitney Clayton) Shanle of Sherman, Kelsey Shanle of Edwardsville, and his step- grandchildren, Cassidy and Chad Senalik of Sherman.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Delbert and Duane; his sister, Barbara Howe, and an infant brother.

 

Bill was a minister at Buffalo Christian Church and Vonderlieth Living Center for over 36 years. He also owned and operated Shanle Painting for over 30 years. Bill enjoyed having fun in life and absolutely loved making hospital calls for anyone that needed him.

Services for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 10, 2016 at the First Christian Church Sanctuary in Mount. Pulaski, with Boyce Mouton and Lyndon Fall officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday October 9, 2016 at The Family Life Center in Mount Pulaski. Burial will follow the services at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mount Pulaski.

Memorial Donations may be made in Bill’s name to Buffalo Christian Church or Mount Pulaski EMS.

Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski.
