[October 20, 2016]  On Tuesday, the Lincoln College volleyball team hosted South-Western Illinois College (SWIC) and suffered a three-set loss.

The first set was close up as the teams battled their way to a 16-16 tie, but several hitting errors and strong blocking by SWIC resulted in a 25-19 win for the visitors.

Set two was again close all the way, but the Lady Lynx faded near the end and lost it 25-22. Coach Tippett shook up the line-up in set three, and the team got off to a better start. Lincoln maintained a two-point advantage most of the set, but a 5 point run by SWIC put them up 23-22. LC managed a side out to keep their opponents off of match point.

From there the two teams traded points, and several long volleys were contested, but in the end, SWIC sealed the match with a 30-28 victory. Lincoln drops to 17-10 on the season.

The team will look to right the ship this weekend as they host the five-team Hampton Inn Classic Round Robin. LC will be in action at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

LC Coach Mark Tippett: "We had a difficult time gaining any momentum in this match due to inconsistent passing and too many unforced errors. It's frustrating to see these kinds of errors holding us back at this point in the season. We will get back to basics in practice this week, and I expect that we will perform better the next time out."
