[October 21, 2016]  MASON CITY - The Illini Central Economic Development Zone will be hosting a kick off meeting on November 2, 2016.

This meeting will be held at the Mason City Limits Comedy Club located at 114 E. Chestnut St, Mason City, starting at 7:00 p.m.

The IC/ED Zone is a new regional group focused on the economic health of the Illini Central District and beyond. The organization, though in its infancy stage, has a mission of working on a collaborative effort among community members to identify and combine area resources, but also work together to deal with the weaknesses of the economic picture in the district communities.

Misty Bell, with The Jacob Project, has made the rounds to Mason City Council, Village Board of Easton, and the Village of San Jose formally inviting them and their community members to attend this kick off meeting and to encourage involvement throughout the district.

In 2005 and 2006, San Jose and Mason City each went through MAPPING the Future of Your Community process with the help of the Illinois Institute of Rural Affairs.

“MAPPING is a strategic visioning and planning process for rural communities to create long-range vision for the economic development of their community and a plan of action for achieving it,” as explained on their website at www.mappingthefuture.org. Gisele Hamm, the Program Manager, will be on hand to present on MAPPING at the November 2 meeting, as the IC/ED Zone starts the ground work for this process once again as a district wide initiative.

This meeting and community group is open to anyone in the community who has an interest. Further information contact Bell by email at thejacobproject2@yahoo.com or by calling (217) 871-0388.
