[October 24, 2016]   LINCOLN - If you have diabetes and are looking to lead a healthier lifestyle, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital will begin a new session of Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) on November 9. The four-session program is proven to decrease complications of diabetes and is oftentimes covered by insurance.

DSME has been taught at ALMH since 2009 and is facilitated by an ALMH certified diabetes educator. The program consists of four, two-hour classes. This session will be held at ALMH on November 9, 16, 30 and December 7 from 5:30pm-7:45pm.

Memorial Diabetes Services at ALMH is a Nationally Accredited Program by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), providing core standard diabetes education and promoting the AADE 7 Self-Care Behaviors.

Because of the program’s structure, a limited number of participants can enroll for each session. To participate, a physician’s order for DSME is required and can be faxed to 217-732-3101. An Initial DSME Assessment must be completed at ALMH to be enrolled in the program. Contact ALMH by email at ALMHdiabetes@mhsil.com or by calling 217-605-5500.
