[October 25, 2016]    Oct 24 (The Sports Xchange) - The New York Islanders agreed to terms with forward Steve Bernier on a one-year, two-way contract Monday.

 

Bernier, 31, had six points (one goal, five assists) in 24 games with the Islanders last season. He also appeared in six Stanley Cup playoff games as the Islanders advanced to the second round.

The Boston Bruins recalled goaltender Malcolm Subban on an emergency basis from Providence of the American Hockey League.

Bruins starting goalie Tuukka Rask missed his second game Saturday night with "general soreness." The injury is believed to be to his leg.

The Dallas Stars recalled forward Justin Dowling from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and placed forward Ales Hemsky on injured reserve.

Dowling, 26, has a Texas Stars-leading eight points on two goals and six assists through five games. He currently ranks second in the AHL in points and second in the league in assists. He joined Dallas as an undrafted free agent on March 26, 2014.

The Buffalo Sabres recalled goaltender Linus Ullmark from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Ullmark, 23, joins the Sabres for his first recall of the 2016-17 season after posting a 3-1-0 record, 2.75 goals-against average and .926 save percentage in four games for Rochester.

The Nashville Predators recalled defenseman Matt Irwin from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.

Irwin, 28, has played in four games for the Admirals this season, with one assist and four penalty minutes. He leads the team in shots on goal with 16. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
