[October 27, 2016]  Oct 26 (The Sports Xchange) - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo returned to the practice field on a limited basis on Wednesday for the first time since sustaining a compression fracture in his back on Aug. 25.

Romo was not in full uniform but was able to throw passes without any issues during the portion of practice open to the media.

He tossed pre-practice passes and then alternated with Dak Prescott and Mark Sanchez in throwing to the Cowboys' backup receivers and tight ends. Romo's throws were anywhere from 5 to 25 yards in length and had good velocity, according to ESPN.

Coach Jason Garrett said he was unsure whether Romo would do more later in the week.

Prescott, who has passed for 1,486 yards with seven touchdown passes and just one interception in helping the Cowboys post a 5-1 record, will start Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2).

Thomas did not practice on Tuesday due to an ankle injury that has been lingering over the last few weeks. He was upgraded to a limited workout participant on Wednesday. Thomas has 16 catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns in five games.
