 The living history project at the Lincoln Heritage Museum
provides first-person storytelling in a historic environment within
the galleries of the museum. Visitors are educated and entertained
as they encounter actors portraying individuals from Lincoln’s time.
The IPCF grant will be used to purchase living history wardrobes for
male living history interpreters for use during special events at
the museum.
“We cannot thank the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation enough
for their generosity towards helping us build our Living History
program. Through their support, we will not only be presenting
history in a unique way for our guests, but we will also be
providing learning opportunities for our students and community
members to learn more about the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln.”
said Tom McLaughlin, Director of the Lincoln Heritage Museum.
In addition to events at the museum, the Lincoln Heritage Museum is
working with local schools throughout the community to provide
interpreters to come to select classes to present living history
performances.

Anne Moseley, Assistant Director of the Lincoln
Heritage Museum and a Certified Interpretive Guide Trainer said,
“Educating the community about the history of Abraham Lincoln and
central Illinois provides the audience with entertainment that
brings history to life!”
The new costumes will be showcased during the museum’s Trick or Treat with Abe
night on October, 29.
Additional living history events at the Lincoln Heritage Museum include;
“Nation’s Choice” on December 3 where guests will learn about the 1860
presidential candidates from living history presenters.
