[September 30, 2016]  LINCOLN - Healthy Communities Partnership is encouraging those who celebrate at Oktoberfest this weekend to call for a free ride home. Safe Ride is a free ride home sponsored by the Healthy Communities Partnership.

“Safe Ride helps to keep our streets safer during events and holidays when children and families are more likely to be celebrating away from home. Our hope is that the community will remember that the service is available and choose not to drink and drive,” said Angela Stoltzenburg, Healthy Communities Partnership Manager.

Oktoberfest is scheduled for Saturday, October 1 at the Oasis Senior Center from noon to 11pm. The event features an outdoor beer garden and several activities to raise funds for the Oasis Senior Center.

In 2016, Safe Ride will also be available Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

To receive a free ride home within the city limits, ask the Oktoberfest bartender for a Safe Ride ticket.
