[April 05, 2017]  April 4 (The Sports Xchange) - The Florida Panthers will be in the market for a new coach after deciding not to retain interim Tom Rowe, according to multiple reports.

Rowe gave up his general manager duties when he agreed to go behind the bench after the firing of Gerard Gallant in November.

Florida (33-35-11) was eliminated from playoff contention last week. The Panthers were Atlantic Division champions last season.

Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning will not be making his much-anticipated return Tuesday night when the visiting Lightning face the Boston Bruins in a game with playoff implications.

The Lightning center, who has a knee injury, was ruled out Tuesday morning by coach Jon Cooper, who also said that right wing J.T. Brown and defenseman Jason Garrison will not play in Boston.

Stamkos, Tampa Bay's captain, has not played since Nov. 15 as he recovers from surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.

The Dallas Stars recalled center Justin Dowling from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Dowling, 26, was sent down Monday after originally being recalled on an emergency basis due to injuries for Stars right wings Ales Hemsky (hip) and Jiri Hudler (lower body). He was brought up on a normal recall Tuesday.

In seven games with Dallas this season, Dowling has two assists and is averaging 11:35 of ice time.
