IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH

125-year Anniversary

1409 Pulaski St., Lincoln

Free Organ Concert

April 21, 2017 at 7:00 pm.

In 1892, our founding fathers chartered the new Lutheran church in Lincoln, Illinois. On July 3, 1892 the constitution for Immanuel Lutheran Church was signed and adopted, and soon grew to 150 members. Their first church, built at the corner of Pekin Street and Logan Street remained for about the next 60 years. As the congregation continued to grow, the original building did not meet the needs of the congregation. With a new minister and over 13,000 volunteer hours of labor, Immanuel Lutheran members built a new church at 1409 Pulaski Street. This building was dedicated on June 25, 1961.
Immanuel means “God with us” and this is certainly true of our past 125 years. We are blessed to serve as an ELCA congregation under our mission statement of “Living, Caring, and Sharing the Good News of Jesus”. As part of the anniversary celebration, Immanuel Lutheran Church will be hosting a free organ concert, by Springfield musician, Mark Gifford, on April 21, 2017 at 7:00 pm. The church is wheelchair accessible and everyone is welcome to join in this musical evening. Find out more about Immanuel at their website: www.immanuellincoln.org.

KIDS’ WORSHIP — April 2017
The Ultimate Transformer — Resurrection

There is a lot of information in the Bible and seeing the whole picture can sometimes seem hard to do! During the month of April in Kids’ Worship, we will look at the big picture of how Jesus transformed life forever. We will begin with the prophecy of Isaiah and end with the Resurrection! Each Sunday we will see another piece of God’s plan unfold. Our key verse for the month is “Everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life” (John 3:15).

Susie is a radio host, author and national speaker who hosts her own daily live talk show, Live the Promise with Susie Larson. Due to her daily show, she is able to reach thousands, as well as through her Facebook @deeperlifeinchrist.
Conference organizer, Linda Seggelke, has high hopes for the conference, “We've welcomed countless dynamic speakers to our annual Christian Women's Conference since its beginning in 1955… Of those currently registered, over 140 have never attended our Christian Women's Conference before.”
Regarding Higgs and Larson, Seggelke said, “Both are dynamic speakers who delight in helping their sisters in Christ live the abundant life as heirs... God's adopted daughters.”
