Sara Sorribes Tormo continued her string of upsets with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over No. 2 seed Katerina Siniakova on Wednesday in the second round of the WTA Claro Open Colsanita tournament in Bogota, Colombia.

The 20-year-old Spaniard reached the quarterfinals for the second time in her WTA career with her fourth victory of the season against a higher-ranked opponent.

"It feels really good to be in quarterfinals," Sorribes Tormo said. "I haven't had the best start to the year, I've been training well but couldn't get the results on the court.

"But thankfully in this past month it's turned around. I'm proud of the results and of the tennis I've been able to produce to get here."

Sorribes Tormo next meets No. 5 seed Magda Linette of Poland, who ousted Bulgaria's Elitsa Kostova 6-4, 6-4.

Other second-round winners included 36-year-old wild card and 2010 French Open champion Francesca Schiavone of Italy, who defeated Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia 6-1, 6-2.

Third-seeded Johanna Larsson of Sweden upended Paraguay's Veronica Cepede Royg 6-4, 6-4, while No. 4 seed Lara Arruabarrena of Spain knocked off Russia's Irina Khromacheva 7-6 (3), 6-0.

Sara Errani of Italy topped American Sachia Vickery 6-2, 6-3, and Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia defeated Silvia Soler-Espinosa of Spain 6-0, 7-5.
