[April 17, 2017]  LINCOLN - On Monday, April 17, 2017, at approximately 9:38 a.m., Lincoln Police Department was dispatched to 818 Woodlawn Rd, State Bank of Lincoln Branch, for a report of a robbery that just occurred.

Lincoln Police Officers responded to learn a black male subject indicated he had a weapon, but did not display it, and demanded money. The male fled the scene and bank tellers were able to provide a good description of the suspect that fled on foot from the scene after taking an undetermined amount of currency. Officers obtained vehicle information that was involved from witnesses and notified area law enforcement.

Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office was able to stop a vehicle matching the description and located a suspect. The suspect was taken into custody on Sangamon County charges. Lincoln Police will forward charges of Aggravated Robbery (Class 1 Felony) against the suspect to the Logan County State’s Attorney.

This investigation is still open and in progress by the Lincoln Police Department, so further comments will be limited. Information from the arrest of the suspect should be obtained from the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office. The charges are merely allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. All reports will be forwarded to the Logan County State’s Attorney for review.
