Lincoln Railsplitters compete in Pleasant Plains Baseball Tournament

[April 23, 2017]    After splitting with Sacred Heart-Griffin in midweek Central State Eight competition, the Lincoln Railsplitters traveled to Pleasant Plains to compete in a weekend tournament featuring teams from all over Illinois.


On Thursday Lincoln’s Colton Holliday takes a swing versus Sacred Heart-Griffin on April 19, 2017. Holliday has been solid at the plate and on the mound this season for the Railsplitters. He was also awarded the MVP of the game to start the Pleasant Plains Tournament this past weekend.

Friday, Williamsville

On Friday night Lincoln defeated Williamsville 2-0 as three Railsplitters combined to pitch the shutout.

According to Coach Mike Smania the pitching was strong on both sides. Colton Holliday earned the win for Lincoln. Holliday pitched fifth and a third innings, allowing no runs, one hit and striking out six Bullets. Relievers Nate Arnold and Jack Eimer helped close out the victory. Arnold recorded the last three outs for Lincoln, earning the save.

The Railsplitters had six hits in the game. Noah Funk and Andrew Yount each collected multiple hits for Lincoln.

Saturday, Riverton and Byron

On Saturday the Railsplitters suffered two close losses. An early morning 3-2 loss to Riverton and then an early afternoon 4-2 loss to Byron.

Lincoln’s record falls to 7-12 on the season with plenty of more baseball action in the week ahead.

Wednesday home versus Jacksonville 4:30 p.m.
Friday at Normal Community 4:30 p.m.
Saturday DH at Morton 10 a.m.
