Yankees 3, Red Sox 1

Aaron Judge socked a two-run homer, and Luis Severino tossed seven scoreless innings as the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-1 on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

Judge, who was celebrating his 25th birthday in his first game at Fenway Park, has a team-leading seven homers and 15 RBIs for New York. The right fielder became the third Yankees player to hit a birthday homer at Fenway and the first since Roger Maris did so on his 32nd birthday, Sept. 10, 1966.

Severino (2-1) limited Boston to three hits and two walks while notching six strikeouts to earn his first career victory against the Red Sox. Greg Bird also drove in a run for New York.

Reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello (1-3) struggled with his command, walking four while allowing all three runs (two earned) on five hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out nine.

Nationals 11, Rockies 4

Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman and Trea Turner hit home runs to power Washington past Colorado.

Bryce Harper went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI in his fifth career four-hit game and second this year for the Nationals, who won for the ninth time in 10 games. After hitting for the cycle Tuesday night, Turner finished a triple shy of doing it again.

Rockies starter Tyler Chatwood (2-3) gave up the homers to Turner and Zimmerman while working a season-low five innings. Washington has scored 26 runs on 28 hits while winning two straight from Colorado.

Phillies 7, Marlins 4

Maikel Franco recorded his second grand slam in as many weeks and Vince Velasquez pitched a season-high 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first win of the season as Philadelphia topped Miami.

Freddy Galvis added a solo home run and Michael Saunders hit his first homer of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth inning, as the Phillies won their fifth straight game. Velasquez enjoyed his best outing of the season, allowing three runs on six hits and throwing 68 of his 97 pitches for strikes.

Wei-Yin Chen (2-1) took the loss for the Marlins, who received a solo home run by Martin Prado, a pair of RBIs by Adeiny Hechavarria and an RBI groundout by Christian Yelich. Miami saw its two-game win streak end.

Indians 7, Astros 6

Michael Brantley had two hits and three RBIs, and Trevor Bauer struck out eight in six innings as Cleveland beat Houston.

Bauer (2-2) gave up four runs, which came on two-run homers by Evan Gattis in the fourth inning and Brian McCann in the sixth. The Indians' Cody Allen got the last four outs for his fourth save of the season.

Houston's Lance McCullers (2-1) allowed five runs, seven hits and three walks in five innings. The Astros' Jose Altuve did not play because of general soreness after a violent collision with teammate Teoscar Hernandez on Tuesday.

Rangers 14, Twins 3

Ryan Rua clubbed his first career grand slam, Shin-Soo Choo belted a three-run homer in the same inning, and Texas blasted Minnesota.

The Rangers, helped by an eight-run eighth inning, salvaged the finale of the three-game series after dropping the first two. Texas' Cole Hamels (2-0) made it through 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, seven hits and three walks.

The Twins had a four-game winning streak against Texas snapped, but are still 7-3 against the Rangers dating back to last season. Minnesota's Hector Santiago started a day after his grandmother died, managing to get through five innings and allowed two runs while not factoring in the decision.

Orioles 5, Rays 4 (11 innings)

Seth Smith drew a bases-loaded walk off Danny Farquhar with two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Baltimore the victory over Tampa Bay.

The Rays took a 4-3 lead in the 11th on a Jesus Sucre single off Alec Asher (1-0), but Jonathan Schoop's sacrifice fly tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Tampa Bay rallied from an early 3-0 deficit thanks to a pair of Tim Beckham solo homers -- his first multi-homer game -- and Brad Miller's RBI fielder's choice in the eighth.

The Orioles wasted another strong start from Dylan Bundy, who gave up two runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings. The Rays' Alex Cobb allowed three runs (two earned) in five innings.

Braves 8, Mets 2

Tyler Flowers tied a career high with four RBIs, and six Atlanta players collected at least two hits apiece in a rout of New York.

Flowers' three-run double capped a five-run first inning. Nick Markakis recorded three hits while Flowers, Matt Kemp, Jace Peterson, Freddie Freeman and Adonis Garcia had two hits apiece as the Braves snapped a six-game losing streak.

Robert Gsellman (0-2) took the loss after giving up six runs (five earned), 10 hits and three walks while striking out two in four innings as the Mets lost for the ninth time in 10 games. Jay Bruce reached base four times (via two hits and two walks).

Pirates 6, Cubs 5

Josh Bell's homer in the sixth inning provided the winning margin as Pittsburgh avoided being swept by Chicago.

The game featured the major league debut of Gift Ngoepe, making him the first Africa-born player to appear in a major league game. Ngoepe, who was recalled by the Pirates from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier in the day, entered the game at second base in the fourth inning. He singled up the middle in his first at-bat in the fourth, walked in the sixth and struck out in the eighth.

The Cubs' Jon Lester (0-1) got his first decision in his fifth start. He allowed six runs, five of them earned, on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings, with five strikeouts and two walks.

Angels 8, Athletics 5

Cameron Maybin had his best day in a Los Angeles uniform, smacking three hits and driving in three runs as the Angels battered Oakland.

Maybin, acquired from Detroit in the offseason to hopefully fill an offensive abyss in left field, had his first multiple-hit game since the second game of the season and his three RBIs was one more than he had all season.

He singled in Los Angeles' first run in the second, singled again in fourth and broke the game open with a bases-loaded two-run single in the seventh. Kole Calhoun also had three hits as the Angels had 14 on the night.

Giants 4, Dodgers 3 (10 innings)

Hunter Pence hit a bases-loaded, walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning, lifting San Francisco to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory against Los Angeles.

Pence fell behind 0-2 to Dodgers right-hander Ross Stripling but worked a full count and sent a fly ball to left on the 10th pitch of his at-bat, driving in Gorkys Hernandez from third.

Hernandez led off the 10th inning with a sharp single to right and stole second base. Conor Gillaspie walked, and the Giants loaded the bases when first baseman Adrian Gonzalez fielded Nick Hundley's bunt and tried to get the force at third but was late with his throw.

Padres 8, Diamondbacks 5

Ryan Schimpf hit a go-ahead three-run homer with one out in the ninth inning, and Yangervis Solarte capped the five-run inning with a two-run double in San Diego's victory over Arizona.

Erick Aybar singled, stole second and took third on pinch hitter Hector Sanchez's single before Schimpf hit a 96 mph fastball from Fernando Rodney (1-1) into the right field seats for a 6-5 lead.

Manuel Margot and Cory Spangenberg singled and pulled a double steal before Solarte's double.

Mariners 8, Tigers 0

James Paxton cooled down Detroit with seven shutout innings as Seattle rolled.

Paxton (3-0), who hasn't given up a run in four of his five starts, allowed four hits and a walk while striking out nine. The Tigers had scored a combined 32 runs in their previous two games, including a 19-9 win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Leadoff hitter Jean Segura led Seattle's offense with three hits, two runs and two RBIs. Guillermo Heredia and Nelson Cruz each supplied two-run homers for the Mariners.

White Sox 5, Royals 2

Avisail Garcia hit a two-run, go-ahead homer, and Jose Quintana struck out 10 as Chicago completed a three-game sweep.

Quintana earned his first win of the season after allowing only one earned run and scattering five hits over six innings. The outing marked the eighth time in his career that Quintana (1-4) has struck out at least 10 hitters.

Nate Karns (0-2) allowed four runs and seven hits and struck out five over six innings as Kansas City dropped its seventh straight game.

Brewers 9, Reds 4

Cincinnati's Scott Schebler hit two home runs, but Wily Peralta struck out seven batters and Milwaukee jumped on Rookie Davis early to finish off a three-game sweep.

Davis (0-1), back for the first time since taking a pitch to the arm and landing on the disabled list April 11, allowed seven hits and a sacrifice fly to open the game -- the third of his big-league career.

Ryan Braun tagged him for a two-run double during that first inning as part of a two-hit day. Jett Bandy led the team with three hits but Eric Thames, who has belted a major league-best 11 homers, exited the game with a tight left hamstring.

Blue Jays at Cardinals, ppd.

The scheduled game between Toronto and St. Louis was postponed because of rain forecasted throughout the afternoon and night. It will be made up Thursday as part of a day/night doubleheader.
