[August 02, 2017]  ATLANTA - Walter L. Goodman, 85, of Atlanta, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 3:10 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation: Friday, July 28, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln

Service: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29th at the church

Funeral home:  Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln

Obituary

Walter L. Goodman, 85, of Atlanta, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 3:10 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln.

Funeral services for Mr. Goodman will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Jefferson Street Christian Church. Mr. Henry Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

Walter Lee Goodman was born October 5, 1931, in Lincoln, the son of Vernon Lee and Elizabeth Ann Stuan Goodman. He was united in marriage with Kathryn "Katy" Goodman at the First Christian Church in Lincoln on Dec. 7, 1950. She preceded him in death Sept. 27, 2014.

Walter is survived by one daughter: Lisa (Greg Paul) Goodman of Bloomington; 12 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Mark) Johnson of Lincoln, Lacey (Jerry) Emmert and Gregg (Tara) Paul of Bloomington, Errin (Jessica) Goodman of Stanford, Courtney Ohm of Pensacola, Fla., Emily Beck of Lincoln, Kalah Mashburn of St. Louis, Mo., Katlynn Beck and Travis Paul of Bloomington, Brandon Goodman of Springfield, Brett (Jamie) Goodman and Brad (Michelle) Goodman of Atlanta; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Harold Goodman of Lincoln.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by one son: Larry Lee Goodman; and one half-brother, Franklin Krause.

Walter was the owner of Hickory Lane Campground and retired from V. Goodman Transfer and Excavating, State of Illinois Snow Removal and REACT. He was a member of Jefferson Street Christian Church and Operating Engineers Local 965.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church or an organization of the donor's choice.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.
