[August 07, 2017]  Friday's floriculture competition included potted plants, gladiolas, cut flowers, and herbs.

With many entries and several unique arrangements, judge Ada Lynn Shrewsbury (photo 158) spent quite a bit of time picking the winners.

Several people have been entering multiple arrangements for years, making it part of their fair tradition.

Friday's winners included:



Amanda Buglio won the Steve Gleason Memorial Challenge Class winner presented by the Gleason family.



Jenna Conrady won the Dee Parr Memorial Challenge winner.



Dena Bergman won the Lorna Kavelman Memorial Challenge winner. Special award given by Verdeen Ingram.



Amanda Buglio won the Edith Wibben Memorial Challenge award. It was given by Cindy Gleason and sponsored by the family. Gleason is Wibben's daughter and Buglio her granddaughter.



Verdeen Ingram won the Pat LaForge Memorial Challenge with religious emphasis. The award was given by LaForge's family.



Ann Knuffman won the William Kavelman sweepstakes award, which was presented by his family.

Cindy Gleason won Grand Champion Arrangement of the Friday show. The award was sponsored by the Dahmm family.

Verdeen Ingram earned Reserve Champion Arrangement of the Friday show. The award was presented by Cindy Gleason and sponsored by Darlene Begolka.


Cindy Gleason received Grand Champion Herb Arrangement. The award was presented by Mary Ellen Martin and sponsored by the Herb Guild of Lincoln.



Grand Champion Herb winner was Sherrill Blaum. Award presented by Mary Ellen Martin and sponsored by the Herb Guild of Lincoln.



Reserve Champion Herb winner was Anna Knuffman award, presented by Cindy Gleason.

Reserve Champion Cut Flower winner was Anna Knuffman, award also presented by Cindy Gleason.



Grand Champion Cut Flower winner was Dena Bergman award presented by Susan Selenik and sponsored by Johnson's True Value in Mount Pulaski.



Grand Champion Potted Pant winner was Dena Bergman, award presented by Lesleigh Bennett and sponsored by Holland, Barry, and Bennett.



Reserve Champion Potted Plant winner was Rochelle Parr, award presented by Mary Ellen Martin, sponsored by Lincoln Women's Club.
