[August 19, 2017]   LINCOLN - What does a blue world look like? The answer to that question is on display at the latest art show opening in the Lincoln Art Institute. Members of Logan County Arts and guest artists created a show that captured their view of the world through a blue lens.

Each show at LAI is attracting new artists from throughout central Illinois and new forms of art. This time was no exception. Ceramic and glass pottery, a mobile, and new techniques for applying paint to canvas were on display.

Even the floor space was turned into art. “It wasn’t planned, but most of the guests and artists to the show tonight were wearing blue. This turned the gallery into one large work of art with moving parts,” said gallery owner Moses Pinkerton. His observation was true. When asked about the blue clothes they were wearing, most attendees just shrugged and said it was really not planned. They just grabbed the first thing to wear and headed out the door.

The art ranges from seascapes to landscapes, serious social comment to fun animation.

Color Me Blue runs through the end of August and will be open August 26 during the Balloon Fest from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can call ahead to make arrangements to visit the gallery at 217-651-8355.
