CC's Trent Koehler took the hard luck loss on the mound going 4 innings and striking out 6. Koehler gave up only 2 hits and 2 runs, both runs coming in the 4th inning. WLB's Daulton Miller battled for a leadoff walk followed by a solid single by Sam Gleason. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and both runners eventually scored on a wild pitch. Andrew Graue pitched the final 2 innings for CC giving up an additional run, again on an errant exchange between pitcher and catcher.

[to top of second column]

WLB's Daulton Miller threw a solid 4 2/3 innings earning the win for the Wolverines moving their record to 3-2 on the season. Miller gave up a single run in the 1st inning on a walk by Graue and an RBI single by Jared Evers. Four CC runners reached base in the 4th inning, but none could score after a pickoff at first base, a caught stealing at 3rd base, and a fly out to right field to end the inning stranding runners at 2nd and 3rd.

WLB's Trey Schilling came in to throw a solid 2 1/3 innings earning a save. Schilling struck out 4 in his work on the mound, including 3 in the top of the 7th inning.

"We only had 5 base runners all night but were able to scratch across 3 of them for runs," said WLB head coach Jeff Nelson. "I'd have to say that some pretty alert baserunning won the game for us tonight. Scotty, Daulton, and Sam all scored from 3rd base on errant pitches. It's a tight backstop so they have to be alert in order to score and I thought all 3 did an outstanding job. We'll take 'em any way we can get 'em. Coach Fuiten's team made some really good defensive plays and are a very fundamentally sound team. We just got a little lucky tonight, but we'll take it."

Next game: Tuesday, Aug 22 @ 4:30pm vs Springfield Calvary at Miller Field.

Record: 3-2
