hosts specialized training in Obstetrical and Neonatal trauma

LINCOLN
- On Monday evening, the Lincoln Rural Fire Department hosted
training on “Trauma in the Obstetrical Patient and Neonatal
Resuscitation.” The program was presented by the HSHS Regional
Trauma Team and the South Central Illinois Perinatal Center.
The 2.5 hour class included instruction on how to recognize and
respond to impending labor, special considerations of pregnant
trauma patients and basic life-saving neonatal resuscitation. A
classroom lecture was followed by hands on demonstrations. Each
first responder was given the chance to simulate delivering a baby
and practice skills on a neonate.

Seventeen EMS personnel from within Logan County attended
representing the Lincoln Rural Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Department,
Chestnut EMS and Logan County Paramedic Association.
Participants received 2.5 Continuing Education hours.
