Chester East-Lincoln wins 10-3 over Mount Pulaski

[August 31, 2017]    The Chester East-Lincoln Panthers hosted the Mount Pulaski Bruins on Wednesday afternoon with Griffen Turner taking the mound against Evan Cooper.

 

The Panthers put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning against Cooper to take a 2-0 lead over Mount Pulaski.

The Bruins got one of those runs back in the top of the second inning. Andrew Bailey pitched the second and third innings for Mount Pulaski and the hot bats of CEL struck for seven runs off Bailey.

The 9-1 lead was intact until the top of the fifth inning when the Bruins offense managed to score twice off Tyler Sasse.

CEL went on to score a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and the score was set at 10-3. CEL held Mount Pulaski scoreless in the final two innings.

Sasse was the winning pitcher for the Panthers.

Cooper suffered the loss for Mount Pulaski.

Mount Pulaski’s defense committed six errors.

For CEL, cleanup hitter Tyler Sasse was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Brenden Wurth was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and 1 run scored. Jaden Klopp was 1-for-4 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Sean Raffa, Dustin Meacham and Aidan Nemeth each had singles for the Panthers.

For Mount Pulaski, cleanup hitter Lucas Kuhlman was a perfect 3-for-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Jackson Fricke was 2-for-3. Andrew Bailey was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Nolan Deibert was 1-for-2 with a walk.

For all the junior high baseball teams in Logan County the Logan County Tournament begins tonight at the Lincoln Rec Center. The tournament is hosted by Carroll Catholic School this year.
