[August 31, 2017]     (The Sports Xchange) - The Houston Astros will return home to begin their three-game interleague series against the New York Mets on Saturday, the team announced Wednesday.

 

The series had been slated to begin on Friday, but the clubs will play a split doubleheader on Saturday at Minute Maid Park before wrapping up the set on Sunday.

The Seattle Mariners acquired right-handed pitcher Mike Leake from the St. Louis Cardinals as they contend for an American League wild-card spot.

The Cardinals get minor league shortstop Rayder Ascanio in exchange for Leake and international cap space totaling $750,000 for the current international signing period.

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper admitted he is frustrated with having to watch from the bench.

Harper was unable to be part of Players Weekend after going on the disabled list Aug. 13, one day after he hyperextended his left knee in a home game against the San Francisco Giants.

Reviving New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge's dormant bat might require a shot in the arm.

Judge said that conversations are ongoing about additional methods of treatment for his ailing left shoulder. Those options include a cortisone shot, Judge said.
