12/01/2017 NFL Note - Green Bay Packers Montgomery, Ty

RB Ty Montgomery was placed on injured reserve on Friday and will soon undergo season-ending wrist surgery. Montgomery has been bothered by wrist soreness throughout the campaign. He is expected to be recovered from surgery before the team's offseason conditioning program beings. Montgomery rushed for 273 yards and three touchdowns on 71 carries this season. He also caught 23 passes for 173 yards and one score.

NFL Note - Carolina Panthers Johnson, Charles

DE Charles Johnson of the Carolina Panthers was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the NFL announced Friday. Johnson will begin his suspension immediately and miss Sunday's key NFL South battle against the New Orleans Saints, who are tied with the Panthers at 8-3. Johnson will be eligible to return to the Panthers' active roster on Dec. 25 and available to play in the final regular-season game against the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 31. He started all 11 games this season, making 16 tackles and no sacks. The 31-year-old Johnson re-signed with the Panthers prior to this season on a two-year deal worth $9.5 million. He has 67.5 career sacks, second on the team's all-time list.

NFL Note - Carolina Panthers Byrd, Damiere

WR Damiere Byrd was removed from injured reserve by the Carolina Panthers to take suspended Charles Johnson's spot on the 53-man roster. Byrd suffered a broken left arm against the New England Patriots in Week 4.

NFL Note - Denver Broncos Rios, Marcus

CB Marcus Rios of the Denver Broncos was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad on Friday. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Rios is a rookie from UCLA who has competed on Denver's practice squad during the entire 2017 season. He entered the NFL with Denver as a college free agent on May 11.

In four preseason games with the Broncos, the 23-year-old Rios recorded seven tackles and two special-teams stops.

NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Peters, Corey

DT Corey Peters signed a three-year contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals through the 2020 season, the team announced Friday. Peters, 29, was in the final year of a three-year deal signed in 2015. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Peters has been with the Cardinals the past three seasons after joining the team as a free agent in 2015.

NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Scandrick, Orlando

CB Orlando Scandrick will miss at least one game and possibly more after suffering two transverse process fractures in his back in 38-14 victory over the Washington Redkins Thursday night, per a source. Scandrick broke the bones in his back on the third play of the game, but played through the injury until the fourth quarter when he was replaced by Anthony Brown.

Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered a similar injury in 2014. Anthony Brown will likely replace Scandrick in the nickel defense with Jourdan Lewis replacing him at right cornerback in the regular defense.

NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Bryant, Dez

WR Dez Bryant caught five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins. Bryant's touchdown gave him 72 for his career to overtake Bob Hayes (71) as the Cowboys' franchise leader in receiving touchdowns.

NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Ladouceur, L.P.

LS Louis-Philippe Ladouceur recovered his first career fumble on a fumbled punt return in the first quarter against the Redskins.

NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Lawrence, DeMarcus

DE DeMarcus Lawrence logged 2.0 sacks against the Redskins to mark his fifth career multi-sack game - fourth of the 2017 season. Lawrence's 2.0 sacks gave him 13.5 for the season to lead the NFL.

NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Morris, Alfred

RB Alfred Morris rushed 27 times for 127 yards and a touchdown. Morris' 127 yards were the fourth-highest total of his career, 14th career 100-yard game and first since rushing for 100 yards in the 2015 season at Dallas as a member of the Washington Redskins. Morris became the second player in NFL history to rush for at least 100 yards for both Dallas and Washington, joining Duane Thomas.

QB Kirk Cousins became the first Redskins quarterback to post three straight seasons with 20 touchdown passes in a 38-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

RB Samaje Perine had a career-high 31 receiving yards in Thursday's loss at Dallas.

WR Maurice Harris is in the concussion protocol after an injury sustained in Thursday's loss at Dallas.

NFL Note - Washington Redskins Brown, Zach

LB Zach Brown (Achilles tendon) left Thursday's loss at Dallas for six snaps and has been playing hurt since late October. But with no game until Dec. 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers, he is expected to practice next week.
