[December 08, 2017]    The Lincoln College Men’s basketball team found themselves in unfamiliar territory in the first half against Blackhawk College on Thursday evening: trailing by double digits.

Lincoln shot just 31% from the field and hit on only 4 of 16 three-point attempts in the first half which helped Blackhawk open up a 33-18 lead. However, LC would go on a 12 to 3 run near the end of the half to cut the lead to six at halftime (36-30).

In the second half, the Lynx improved their shooting percentage greatly (51%) including hitting eight three-pointers to regain the lead and go on to an 85-76 win. The victory keeps LC perfect on the year at 11-0.

Sophomore guard Tayvon Tyler (Rockford) led all scorers with 25 points while also picking up four assists and four steals. Freshman Edwin Rivera (Puerto Rico) poured in 15 points and led the team in rebounds with seven. Sophomore Richard Simpkins (Carlock) scored 14 while Isaiah Nelson (Springfield) and Louis Griffith (Washington) each had 11.

Lincoln will be off until January 7th when they will host Gateway Prep at 1:00 pm.
