[December 13, 2017]  LINCOLN -  Gary Richard Talkington, 77, of Lincoln, passed away November 26, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center with his family by his side.

Visitation: 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home

Service:  2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home

Gary Richard Talkington 1940 - 2017

Gary Richard Talkington, 77, of Lincoln, passed away November 26, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center with his family by his side.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. with Larry Crawford officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Gary was born November 24, 1940 in Burlington, IA., the son of Curtis and Ruby Jean (Watson) Talkington. He married Patsy Woolsey on April 25, 1962.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Gary was employed by Schwan's Ice Cream for 20 years and was also employed at Central Baptist Church as a custodian for several years. He enjoyed fishing and golf.

 

Survivors include: his wife Patsy Talkington of Lincoln; children: Terry Talkington of Mason City and Tammy (Rich) Pourchot of Emden; daughter-in-law Pamela Talkington of Lincoln; grandchildren: Sasha (Cory) Bruns, Sara (Trevon) Dunn, Gary (Bethany) Rademaker, Carissa (Ben McCarty) Talkington and Reese Talkington; great grandchildren: Brenley and Ashlan Bruns, Tatum, Haven and Raelynn Dunn, Lillian and Barrett Rademaker, Talon and Tate McCarty; and sisters Sharon (Russ) Rice of Whitehall, Donna Lawson of Jacksonville, and Marla (Jess) Groves of Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Troy Talkington, brother Michael Talkington, and nephew Michael Talkington.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.
