Theresa Moore files for Logan County Clerk and Recorder

LINCOLN

Chief Deputy County Clerk Theresa Moore announced Friday her candidacy for the Office of Logan County Clerk and Recorder of Deeds. She has the full support of retiring Clerk, Sally Turner, and staff. Theresa is the Chief Deputy Clerk of the office, and has been specializing in the responsibilities of Elections and Taxes since 2007. Theresa and her husband of 35 years, Tom, are lifelong residents of Logan County and have two grown children, Zachary – a speech pathologist in Clearwater, Florida, and Meghan – an accountant in Litchfield.

Theresa attended Mount Pulaski High School and Lincoln Land Community College. She is a Republican Precinct Committeeman, Elkhart Township Trustee and serves as the treasurer for both the Village of Elkhart and Elkhart Rural Fire District. She is involved in Needs and Goals of Elkhart (NAG) and is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Theresa is also an associate member of the County Clerk and Recorder’s Association where she networks with and assists many clerks in the 102 counties of Illinois.

Theresa is running as a Republican on the March 20, 2018 ballot to replace the retiring County Clerk, Sally Turner. Turner will vacate the office at the end of her 6th term in November, 2018. About Theresa, County Clerk Turner stated, “Theresa is an outstanding candidate for the office of County Clerk and Recorder. She has been training for this position for many years, and knows it inside and out. I will leave my office in competent, capable hands. This will be a seamless transition. Our entire staff is supportive of her election to this office. She is very active in the community and is a wonderful person, supervisor, and friend.” Theresa has been the election administrator in the office for many years and also functions as the chief tax extensionist and head of tax redemptions.

“I am looking forward to running for the office of Logan County Clerk and Recorder. It is an honor to have the support of County Clerk Sally Turner. I have learned much over the last 10 years in the office working alongside her. Having her faith and confidence in me to be the next clerk is immeasurable”, she said. Theresa also conveyed she plans to continue to move forward with alternative electronic filing of real estate documents and more hands on training with taxing districts in the tax levy process. She stated she will work with Treasurer Thomas on a new accounts payable and receivable software solution that is more efficient and report friendly for the county board. She also stressed that she will focus on a more detailed website and continue to educate the public in all areas of the office through social networking applications.
