[December 18, 2017]   (The Sports Xchange) - Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson received a two-game suspension from the NHL on Sunday for boarding Tampa Bay Lightning forward Vladislav Namestnikov.

The incident occurred with 3:03 remaining in the second period of Saturday's 6-5 win by the Lightning. Johnson was assessed a minor penalty for slashing and a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding. Namestnikov did not return.

Johnson will forfeit $64,516.12 under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

The Columbus Blue Jackets recalled left winger Sonny Milano and defenseman Cameron Gaunce from the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.

In corresponding moves, the Blue Jackets assigned left winger Jordan Schroeder and defenseman Gabriel Carlsson to their AHL affiliate.

Milano, 21, has five goals, five assists and four penalty minutes in 25 games with the Blue Jackets this season.

The St. Louis Blues activated defenseman and captain Alex Pietrangelo from injured reserve before Sunday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Pietrangelo, 27, had missed the past four games with a lower-body injury.

He has 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) in 30 games this season. Pietrangelo ranks third among all defensemen in goals and his total points are tied for ninth most in that group. He also averages the sixth-most minutes per game (25:45) in the NHL overall.
