Jason and Keri Erickson man the reins of the horse-drawn carriage in downtown Lincoln mid-day on Saturday. The Ericksons provided free carriage rides to downtown visitors on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Jason Erickson said the rides had been well received with a steady line of traffic on Friday night and a line formed on Saturday.

The couple manned the reins while up to six riders took the back seat for a leisurely trip around the historic Logan County Courthouse square.

When the rides came to a stop, guests were welcome to get a little better acquainted with the star of the show, the large golden colored horse providing the "horsepower" for this particular vehicle.

Two youngsters took advantage of that opportunity to get up close to the horse and experience the velvety softness of his nose. One said that while he was familiar with horses, this was his first every carriage ride, and he enjoyed it very much.

The horse-drawn carriage will return to the downtown square again this coming weekend. Rides will be given on Friday night and Saturday.
