Relay for Life of Logan County “Paint Your World Purple” announces dates and changes to 2017 events

[February 06, 2017]   LINCOLN - The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Logan County began their 2017 campaign with their Kick-Off Potluck and Meeting on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Lincoln Christian Church. Cyra Buttell, chair asked Bill Post to begin the evening with a prayer before the potluck.

During the meeting committee leaders and members, captains, and several new members chose the theme for the year “Paint Your World Purple” that will invite variations of it for the sites at the Relay.

Lauren Grenlund, representative from the ACS State office in Springfield shared statistics with the group: 72% of every dollar raised goes toward Research funding; 21% of every dollar raised goes toward patient services, the remaining 7% covers overhead costs. From questions we have also learned that residents of Logan Co. can get help by calling: 800 337-2345 (Ext 3) Other concerns shared will be answered and shared as it is available. As soon as possible we will have cards to share at functions and the Relay.

Relay for Life - June 17, 2017 at Lincoln College from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

RFL Survivor Dinner - Wednesday, June 14 – time TBA.

NO Registration fees - Must have $100 in donations before May 17 to get Team shirt

Survivors must register each year (designate ‘survivor’ when registering)

Community Survivor registration events:
Wellnesss Expo February 18 at Lincoln Park District (9 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Upcoming meeting dates

All meetings will be held at the Lincoln Christian Church at 6 p.m.   A Suggestion Box will be out at meetings for ideas for Honorary Chair candidates, Fundraisers, activity ideas and more.

The meeting closed with Cyra presenting Carolyn Motley with a gift for the most raised ($500) so far this year. Other gifts were given as door prizes.
