LINCOLN
- The participants in the new SERVE program at St. John United
Church of Christ will be stationed at the Laundromat on Woodlawn
Road from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this evening (Thursday, February 9th), to
plug quarters into washing machines and dryers for those who find
this a financial burden in their family’s lives. There will also be
detergent and softener supplied by the church, as needed.

SERVE is an intergenerational program that seeks to learn about
the agencies and programs in Lincoln/Logan County, and then find
some avenue to render support or help.
Agencies visited and given support have been the Humane Society of
Logan County, Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois, St.
Clara’s Manor, Timber Creek, Vonderleith Nursing Home,
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Logan County Food Bank, Paulus
Pork Farm (support of Pork Project of Immanuel Lutheran), Glass
Recycle program via Verdeen Ingram, and Mayor Marty Neitzel’s
office.
Some craft projects have benefitted residents in nursing homes and
the church during the holidays.
