[February 10, 2017]   The Lady Railers JV lost a tough one to Glenwood Thursday night at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium. Playing their final game of the season and last ever in the Central State 8, the Lincoln JV was tied at the half with Glenwood 20-20.

After a really solid third quarter, led by 11 points poured in by Emma Konczyk, the Lady Railers had a 36-35 advantage going into the final quarter.

Lincoln started the fourth quarter by extending the lead to 39-35 on free throws by Konczyk and Leah Schneider. Schneider would give Lincoln a 41-37 lead at the 5:04 mark on two more free throws but that would be all the scoring for Lincoln.

The Lady Railers could not manage to sink a field goal or a free throw the rest of the game and Glenwood took advantage. Lincoln turned the ball over many times in the final five minutes and Glenwood ended up stealing the victory from the Lady Railers, 51-41 the final.

Schneider and Konczyk both fouled out in the fourth quarter and that, too, obviously hurt the Lady Railers offense.

Konczyk led Lincoln with 16 points and Schneider chipped in 15 points.

On a positive note for the Lincoln JV team, three players - Schneider, Konczyk and Koehler all averaged in double figures for the season. Of that group Konczyk is the only sophomore with Schneider and Koehler both being freshmen.

Coach Todd Koehler was still very proud of the season the ladies put together and following the loss he said of his team, “They are just a great group of kids and they are fun to coach.”

Looking forward to the future for these Lady Railers!
