[February 13, 2017]  The Illinois Fighting Illini came out flat, shot poorly, and their defense gave up a nearly 60% shooting display as Penn State handled the Illini 83-70 Saturday in Champaign. Somehow the Illini were able to stay close to PSU though the Lions did pull away just before half when the Lions took a 12-point lead as the Illini dug a hole they could never climb out of.

Malcolm Hill did score 14 points, Jalen Coleman-Lands added 12 points and Te’Jon Lucas tallied 11 points to go along with 7 assists, but those stats were not nearly enough to overcome the red-hot Lions.

PSU outrebounded Illinois 27-20, scored more points in the paint, made more free throws and only missed two for the entire game.

Illinois will next be in action with a road tilt scheduled for next Saturday in Iowa.
