[February 17, 2017]  On Wednesday, the Lincoln College Men's Volleyball team traveled to Peoria for split squad matches against the Bradley University Club team. Lincoln came away with two close, hard-fought wins on the night. In the "B" team match-up, Lincoln took set one 25-19, but passing problems off of serve receive in set two cause LC to trail most of the set. A late surge by the Lynx behind the serve of freshman middle Will Moore tied the score at 24-24, but Lincoln was unable to complete the comeback, and lost the set 24-26. In the deciding set to 15, Bradley jumped out to a 10-5 lead. At that point the LC defense tightened up and denied BU hitters several times which ignited a 10-2 run for LC and gave them the match win 15-12. Outside hitter Kenny Koster led all hitters with ten kills. Setter Jake Fleming led in service points (15) and set assists (16) while setter Tony Silva had nine set assists. Outside hitter Noah Diab recorded five kills and libero Jordan Cruickshank led the team in digs with 16. The Lincoln B team improved their record to 3-5.

The excitement continued in the "A" team match as the LC and BU varsity teams battled back and forth through two tense sets. Lincoln (12-3) got off to a strong start and enjoyed a 7-1 lead in the early going. The Lynx were able to maintain that lead until late in the set when the Bradley offense came alive to tie the score at 22-22. From there the teams traded side outs until LC was able to break through and win the set 29-27. Set two again saw the two teams side out effectively against each other which kept the score close the entire way.

The lead changed hands multiple times with neither team being able to take more than a one or two point advantage. Lincoln eventually wore down the BU defense and won the set 27-25 to end the match. Sophomore outside hitter Corey Poindexter led LC in kills with six and he served four points. Middle hitter Deantrius Coleman and Right side/setter Greg Scott each recorded five kills. Libero Dylan Russin led the team with seven digs and middle hitter Michael Wesley had three blocks.

Lincoln will be playing at home this weekend as they host Davenport University on Friday for a 6:30 PM match. On Saturday both team will be in action at the team's first home tournament.
