[February 20, 2017]  Feb 19 (The Sports Exchange) - Ottawa Senators forward Bobby Ryan will be sidelined indefinitely with a right index finger injury, the team announced on Sunday.

Ryan, 29, sustained the injury after he was hit by the puck on a shot during the third period of Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"He'll be out for a while. If it's broken, we're talking three to six weeks," Ottawa coach Guy Boucher said. "This obviously comes at a bad moment. Let's not kid ourselves. This team is battling hard to make the playoffs and we desperately need him in the lineup."

Ryan has 12 goals and as many assists in 50 games this season, with just three points and 14 shots on goal coming in his last eight contests.

The St. Louis Blues claimed forward Ty Rattie off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Rattie, 24, returns to the Blues after being placed on waivers on Saturday. He will report to the Chicago Wolves, the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate.

Rattie, who was first claimed off waivers by the Hurricanes from the Blues on Jan. 4, appeared in five games and posted two assists at Carolina.

The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Vinnie Hinostroza from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Hinostroza, 22, has 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 46 games with the Blackhawks this season. He has three multi-point games -- tied for the most among Blackhawks rookies.

The Minnesota Wild reassigned forward Alex Tuch to the Iowa Wild of the AHL.

Tuch, 20, averaged 10:42 of time on ice during six contests with Minnesota this season. He has no points with eight shots on goal.

The Buffalo Sabres assigned defenseman Taylor Fedun to the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

The Sabres placed Fedun on waivers on Saturday but he was not claimed by another team. He has no goals, seven assists and 16 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Sabres this season since being recalled from Rochester in mid-November.

The Tampa Bay Lightning reassigned forward Cory Conacher to the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.

Conacher, 27, was recalled to Tampa Bay on Saturday but did not play. He has a goal and an assist in seven games with the Lightning this season. (Editing by Gene Cherry)
