[February 22, 2017]  LINCOLN - On Sunday, the Logan County 4-H Foundation hosted its annual spaghetti dinner at the Lincoln Knights of Columbus.

The day was marked by local leaders as a great success, raising funds through a “donation only” meal, and a large silent auction to benefit Logan County 4-Hers, Clubs, and 4-H activities.

The donation only meal makes the event an affordable activity for families. No one questions the amount placed in the large container at the front door, so even families on a tight budget can come out, enjoy a good meal and a great time together as a family.

The event is also a great place for friends to gather, enjoy a meal, and spent time chatting around the table over a delicious dessert.

In addition to the meal, a large silent auction was set up in the center of the room. Items from the auction were donated by supporters of 4-H and included some remarkable offerings.

The day is also a day of recognition for 4-H members and clubs.

Throughout the day, from time to time, members would be called to the stage area where they were recognized.

The following information has been provided by Patty Huffer, Logan County Extension:

Logan County 4-H recently held their Recognition Event to honor achievement by local 4-H members during the 2015-2016 4-H year.

Some 4-H'ers are chosen each year as top award winners and are selected based on outstanding work, quantity, quality, years, citizenship, leadership, participation, skill acquisition and growth. These are given in two age categories: 11 - 13 years of age and 14 - 19 years of age.

Local award sponsors include Atlanta Ag 4-H Club, Mike Booher, Brandt Consolidated, Farm Credit Illinois, Hollanders 4-H Club, Middletown 4-H’ers, Ed & Carlene Carter Family, State Bank of Lincoln and Scott & Kelly Tucker Family.
