[February 23, 2017]  LINCOLN - George J. Johnson Jr., 83, of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his home.

Funeral Arrangements are pending at the Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Service: Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.

George Johnson Jr. , 83, of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his home.

Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by Lincoln American Legion Post #263.

George was born on July 9, 1933 in Atlanta the son of George and Lena Haas Johnson Sr.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Edwards on December 31, 1966. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter: Georgia (Jim Garbes) Johnson,four step children: Patricia Faye Webb, Lucretia (Gene) Tackett, Michael Ray Webb, Teresa Kay (Kerry) Crawford. One brother: Raymond Johnson. Fourteen grandchildren. Several great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by one sister: Helen Winstead.

George served in the United States Army and US Coast Guard.

He was very proud of being able to go on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

He is a member of Lincoln American Legion Post 263 and Teamsters Operating Engineers Local 965.

He retired from Lincoln Sand and Gravel.

George loved his family and his greatest joy was his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
