Lynx Wrestlers Finish 4th at National Tournament
Five Wrestlers Named All Americans

[February 28, 2017]  LINCOLN -  Last Friday the Lynx wrestling team, and all 10 qualifiers, traveled to Council Bluff, IA for the NJCAA National Tournament. At the conclusion of the two day event, the squad came away with an overall 4th place team finish and five individual place winners. The top 8 placers in each weight class are All-American status.

The Lynx All-Americans are:

125 lbs. DJ Millett Fr. Granite City, IL. 8th
141 lbs. Christian Kanzler Fr. Fox Lake, IL. 4th
157 lbs. Alex Gonzalez Fr. Aurora, IL. 4th
174 lbs. Tyree Overton So. Rock Island, IL. 3rd
184 lbs. Logan Hagerbaumer So. Quincy, IL. 4th

“I’m extremely proud of the entire team for the hard work they put in. All the qualifiers played a part in the team finish as all won matches and scored points” says rookie coach Daryl Thomas. “The guys bought in to the attitude the coaching staff was trying to instill. Out of the 10 that qualified for the tournament, 5 are freshmen so the squad has a great nucleus for next year’s team.”
