Hartsburg Emden falls to Dwight 69-67 in 5th place game of holiday tournament

[December 30, 2016]    The Hartem Stags lost a heartbreaker Thursday night in the 5th place game of the 2016 Marseilles Holiday Tournament. The Stags fell to the Dwight Trojans 69-67 despite a tremendous effort.

 

Hartem led 27-26 after a high-scoring first quarter. Halftime saw the lead change in favor of Dwight, 40-39. At the end of three quarters the Trojans were up 57-51 and the Stags gave it their best in the final eight minutes only to come up short and take the 69-67 loss.

Alec Hayes was the Stags Player of the Game with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Justin Fox was the Player of the Game for Dwight with a tournament record-setting 33 points scored in the contest.

Both Hayes and Fox were named to the All-Tournament Team. Fox also set a new All-Tournament scoring record with 109 points scored in 4 games.

Congratulations to the Stags for their 6th place finish in the tournament.
