[January 06, 2017]    Jan 5 (The Sports Xchange) - The Chicago Blackhawks officially activated forward Marian Hossa from injured reserve on Thursday, and he is available for Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
 

 

The 37-year-old Hossa, a five-time All-Star right winger, has not played since Dec. 20 because of an upper-body injury. He missed five games.

The Carolina Hurricanes activated defenseman Justin Faulk from injured reserve and placed forward Elias Lindholm on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, the team announced.

Faulk, 24, missed four games with a lower-body injury after being placed on injured reserve on Saturday. He has not played since the Dec. 23 game against the Boston Bruins.

Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was fined $2,000 for embellishment, the NHL announced.

The fine is for an incident during a game against the New Jersey Devils on Dec. 29.

Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky wasn't shy about calling his shot prior to Thursday night's game against the white-hot Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets are bidding to match the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins for the longest winning streak in NHL history should they emerge victorious for the 17th straight time on Thursday. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
