U.S. mortgage activity rises as loan rates fall: MBA

[January 11, 2017]  NEW YORK (Reuters) - Applications for U.S. mortgages rose last week with requests for loans to buy a home reaching a six-month high as mortgage rates fell for a second straight week, Mortgage Bankers Association data released on Wednesday showed.

 

The Washington-based industry group said its seasonally adjusted measure on applications for mortgages rose to 379.2 in the week ended Jan. 6, up 5.8 percent from the prior week.
