Hartsburg-Emden defeats Lewistown on Homecoming Night

[January 14, 2017]    Hartem held off a fourth quarter surge by Lewistown Friday night and pulled away for a 60-51 win on the school’s Homecoming Night.

 

The Stags led this one 19-16 after one quarter as senior Alec Hayes poured in 10 first quarter points.

At the half Hartem managed a solid 36-26 lead.

Lewistown narrowed the gap to 43-39 at the end of three by outscoring the home team 13-7 in that quarter.

Lewistown managed to cut the lead to 46-44 with 4:30 left in the game but Brady Wolpert’s 9 points in the fourth quarter managed to ignite the Stags and allow them to pull away for the 60-51 victory.

Hartem was also near-perfect from the free throw line, making 17 of 19 shots from the charity stripe.

Hartem was led in scoring by Alec Hayes with 22 points and Brady Wolpert with 20 points.

One final note from Friday night. The Stags did not have a Royalty Court for basketball homecoming since their formal homecoming is in the fall.
