The Tomahawk Trophy stays in MP as the Hilltoppers defeat Midwest Central

[January 14, 2017]    Mount Pulaski is keeping the Tomahawk Trophy after defeating conference foe Midwest Central 45-41 Friday night at the Ed Butkovich Gymnasium.

 

The Hilltoppers had to come from behind to pull out the victory as Midwest Central had a comfortable 31-17 lead at the half and led by as much as 36-18 in the third quarter.

Senior Lukas Aylesworth kicked it into high gear at this point and his 13 points in the second half ignited the Hilltoppers.

By the end of the third quarter the Hilltoppers had narrowed the gap to 38-33.

A stellar fourth quarter performance from the Hilltoppers shut down the Raiders and allowed Mount Pulaski to pull out one of their most exciting wins of the season, 45-41 the final.

Lukas Aylesworth led Mount Pulaski with 19 points.

The Hilltoppers improved to 9-7 after starting the season with a 1-4 record.
