Mount Pulaski boys fall to Delavan 64-57

[January 21, 2017]    The Tomahawk Trophy keeps on traveling and will make its home in Delavan for now as the Panthers took it away from Mount Pulaski Friday night with a 64-57 win over the Hilltoppers.

Mount Pulaski did not give up the trophy easily. Mount Pulaski had an 18-14 first quarter lead to start the night but then trailed 32-27 at the half.

 

Delavan maintained a 46-37 lead at the end of the third quarter but the Hilltoppers put up a fight in the fourth quarter.

Mount Pulaski managed to go on a 7-0 run to start the fourth quarter and with 6:12 left to play in the game the lead was down to 46-44.

The trophy was still up for grabs with 1:07 left and the game was close with Delavan leading 59-55. The Panthers pulled away in the final minute to secure the 64-57 victory.

Oliver and Taylor led Mount Pulaski with 14 points apiece. Sioh led the Panthers with 19 points while Jeckel tossed in 17 points and Hodges scored 15 points.

Mount Pulaski will host Lincolnwood tonight in a game that was rescheduled from mid-December. The JV tips off at 6 p.m. and the Varsity is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Mount Pulaski is also honoring the 1936 and 1976 state basketball teams in between games this evening.
