Lynx Track and Field start season strong at Snowbird Invitational

[January 24, 2017]  The Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams competed at the 14 team Snowbird Invite hosted by Illinois College. Lincoln was the only two-year athletic program at the meet. The men’s team finished in 5th overall and the women’s team finished in 7th.

Placing for the men’s team in field events were Tylin Hall in 6th place in the long jump and Sabree Bakari won high jump.

The Lincoln College Men’s team had several placers in track events: Tylin Hall finished 7th in the 60 hurdles, Dontae Adams and Roman Hampton place 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 60 meter while Earl Armstrong won the 400 meter race. Roman Hampton, Armstrong, and Adams were 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in the 200. Finally, placing in 2nd place in the 4x400 relay for Lincoln was Armstrong, Adams, Ed Lopez and Hampton.



The Women's team had several top placers. In field events, Taya Burse and ShaTavia Lowery placed 3rd and 6th in the long jump and Bralon Mack and Carrissa Tinsley placed 2nd and 3rd in the shot-put.



Two relay teams placed at the Snowbird Invite: The distance medley relay of Deanna Anglin, Amber Pierce, Markayla Rodgers and Jasmine Brooks placed 7th and the 4x400 relay team of Apeasha Ashby, Pierce, Stacia Lee and Burse was 5th.

In addition, Lincoln College athlete Burse finished in 6th in the 60 hurdles and Lee was 2nd in the 60 meter dash. In the 200 meter, Ashby placed 6th to round out the Lynx great showing at the invitational.

Coach Herron said, “I thought we had a solid start to our season. This meet was a great way for us to gauge how we are as a team. We know we still have a lot of work to do but things definitely look promising.”

The Lynx will be in action again this Saturday at IWU.
